Elementary School Gets the CTI Treatment

Demo at Green Mountain Elementary School

The room was packed with the First through Sixth Graders at Green Mountain Elementary School on May 11th.  There were not only students, teachers and workers in the crowded gym, but there were countless parents lining the walls!  May 11th was Field Day for Green Mountain Elementary School, and after their field day activities, the Colorado Taekwondo Institute came in to demonstrate and educate the students, teachers and field day helpers on Moo Sul Kwan martial arts.

After warming up in a music temp on the school grounds, our demo group entered the gym to hundreds of faces eager and ready to watch and learn.  It was standing room only and the demo space was tight.   After an introduction by Peyton and Connor Brauch, the demo started.  Exercise, basics, advanced kicks, poomse, one-step sparring, self-defense, breaking and more were explained and shown to the crowd.

Demo at Carmody Middle School

Around 750 students, teachers and school staff packed the Carmody Middle School gym for a demonstration by some members of our CTI Demonstration Team on April 21st.

Carmody Middle School is located in Lakewood, Colorado, and is led by Principal Scott Allensworth.  Last year, Principal Allensworth directed John Sautel to begin the Carmody Taekwondo Club for interested students and teachers at Carmody Middle School.

Master John Sautel, who teaches Math at Carmody, leads the Carmody Taekwondo Club and holds classes each week throughout the school year for the 7th and 8th graders.  Just in its second year, the Carmody Taekwondo Club has many fine, hard working students, including Mr. Lee Tomjack who is one of the teachers at Carmody Middle School.

When the demo group ran out into the gymnasium, everyone at the school was there, filling all of the seats and then some!  The CTI Demonstration Team took the crowd on a journey through some of the exercise, basics, poomse, one-step sparring, breaking and more of Moo Sul Kwan martial arts.  Among the many fine displays of MSK techniques by the demonstr
ators of all belt levels, Master John Sautel delighted the crowd with a self-defense demo with daughter Bridget Sautel, 3rd dan.  Freddy Sautel, 4th dan, finished the demo with a flying side kick break over several teachers including Principal Allensworth!

Pointing the Way at Compass

Two demonstrations were presented at Compass Montessori School in Golden during the first week of April.  Students and instructors demonstrating came from five different CTI Campuses - Golden, Westminster, Green Mountain, Littleton and Conifer.  The first demonstration was for the younger student grades.  The second demo was for the older half of Compass Montessori.

During this second visit to Compass Montessori, a brief history of Taekwondo and the Moo Sul Kwan martial arts were given along with an idea of what CTI students do in regular classes each week.  Poomse, breaking, one-step sparring, self-defense, sparring, basics and exercise were all performed for the students and teachers.

Notre Dame Demos

The Colorado Taekwondo Institute was represented at the recent Channel 9 Health Fair at Notre Dame Catholic School on February 10th.

Students from the sixth, seventh and eight grades learned about Moo Sul Kwan Taekwondo during the many separate demonstrations presented.  We were totally impressed with the self-control and respect that the students and staff, led by Principal Charlene Molis, from Notre Dame exhibited - it made for a wonderful day!

Depending on the group that came through, the students were taught how to do several different exercises and perform some beginning basics.  Grandmaster Sautel led the demonstrations aided by Michael Sandusky, 2nd dan and Kathleen Sautel, 1st dan.  (Kathleen Sautel, daughter of Master John Sautel, currently attends the 6th grade at Notre Dame.)

We will be returning to Notre Dame to teach and demonstrate for the first through fifth grades in early March.

Oberon Middle School Demonstration

The Colorado Taekwondo Institute, led by members of the  CTI Black Belt Team, recently put on a demonstration for Oberon Middle School in Arvada, Colorado.  The demonstration was for Oberon's Respect Day Assembly which began bright and early at 7:30 AM.

As the students and instuctors demonstrated exercise, basics, poomse, self-defense and more, Grandmaster Sautel spoke to the students and teachers of Oberon Middle School on the concepts and benefits of respect. The stands were packed with 7th and 8th graders and everyone had a good time.

Over thirty CTI students and instructors came from the Conifer, Golden, Westminster, Littleton and Green Mountain Campuses to participate in this important demonstration.

There is are also upcoming demonstrations scheduled for Notre Dame Catholic School and Compass Montessori School in Denver and Golden.
