“Be The Edge”

The Moo Sul Kwan Summer Expo XXXVII in Keystone, Colorado has left students with a better knowledge of the motto of the weekend, “Be the Edge.” Students that attended the Summer Expo had many classes focused around the motto and learned what it means to be the edge in all aspects of life. This weekend of Taekwondo fun was a learning experience for everyone and included eight different classes, the Moo Sul Race, and the Saturday night banquet including food, live music, dancing, and videos put together by every campus. This experience was definitely one that won’t be forgotten.

So what does it mean to “be the edge?” Like the edge of a blade, we learned that being the edge meant to be sharp in our moves, refined in our art, and good leaders for our peers inside and outside of Taekwondo. By being the edge, one should demonstrate the tenets of Taekwondo (self-control, perseverance, courtesy, indomitable spirit, and integrity) at all times. By doing so we are refining ourselves as leaders in our daily lives. The most important thing about this motto is that anyone, of any age, is capable of doing this. If you are working on applying the tenets of Taekwondo in your life you will become a role-model for those around you, which will better your friends, family, and peers. 

The other part of being the edge is honing your skills. This means practicing not only what you are already good at, but by being diligent and practicing things that we struggle with. Being the edge also includes asking questions to ensure a better understanding of each move and finding out the best ways to practice things we struggle with. By asking questions and showing a desire to learn, you will sharpen your edge further and you will improve your abilities to do Taekwondo and you will even improve your ability to help others with their questions in class. 

When everyone strives to be the edge, everyone will improve. If you are honing your skills in class and defining each move through diligent practice, you will grow stronger and you will help give your peers inspiration. Other ways to be the edge in your campus would be to help welcome new students, show up early to your classes to assist in other classes, and even to help out around the campus. If you were not able to make the Summer Expo, still strive to be the edge and learn as much as you can from those that did attend that fun-filled weekend. We hope to see everyone at the next upcoming events and especially at the next Expo where there will be a new motto and new ways to be the edge!

CTI Martial Arts: Golden Campus

Martial arts is an activity with different origins, each originally developed for self-protection. From taekwondo to karate to judo, the physical and mental development of martial arts can benefit people of all ages, starting as young as three years old. With the combination of culture, discipline, and self-defense, martial arts is useful for everyone and can be enjoyed with all circumstances and lifestyles. Amongst the several martial arts schools in the Golden, Colorado area, there is one specific school that provides so much more to its students than just increasing belt rankings or learning how to defend oneself; this is the Colorado Taekwondo Institute. 

The Colorado Taekwondo Institute (CTI), Golden Campus, is one of the six martial arts locations in Colorado. This campus is located on 2001 Youngfield St in Golden CO. This campus was founded in 2005 and has since been the top martial arts schools in the Golden, Colorado area. The golden location is an ideal place for anyone looking to take part in Martial Arts.

With a very spacious work out area and suspension flooring, the Golden Campus provides students with a wonderful environment necessary for Taekwondo instruction. The Golden Campus offers classes for four different age groups: toddlers, juniors, teens, and adults. With classes taking place on Monday through Friday, students will have no shortage of mentoring from the top CTI Instructors. The Golden location is also equipped with ample viewing areas, allowing friends and family to gain insight on what their loved one is being taught. 

Also allowing students to receive the highest tier of instruction are the CTI instructors that run the Golden martial arts school. The Colorado Taekwondo Institute prides itself with it's outstanding and dedicated teaching staff, including Tyler Murphy, 4th degree black belt; Peyton Brauch, 4th degree black belt; and Katie Dahle, 3rd dan; with over 50 years of combined martial arts experience. 

The Golden martial arts school is dedicated to teaching Moo Sul Kwan Taekwondo to anyone willing to partake in the program. This Golden martial arts school has created the best environment to create the most valuable experiences in life, whether it focuses on martial arts training, social skills or discipline. 2023 All-City Champs Results!

A fantastic two-day championship tournament took place during the last weekend of April at Alameda International Jr/Sr High School in Lakewood, Colorado.

The action began on Friday evening and continued through Saturday. Over 300 competitors entered into exciting competitions in poomse, sparring, First Point Wins!, breaking,target kicking, Tiger following directions, and staff poomse.

It was a very successful day! Special congratulations to our Black Belt Grand Champions: Konner Evans and Ed Stanton!
